According to "Haddow-Skelton Heritage" by Ruth Haddox Harrington, 2005 pg. 239:

Thomas Babb, son of Thomas and Blanch (Mercer) Babb was born in Frederick Co., VA, 22 Jan. 1766, m. Margaret (Denny) Wilson 27 Nov 1788 [Frederick Co., VA marriage Book 14, pg. 10], and died 31 March 1858 at 92 yrs., at Xenia, OH

Thomas inherited the home place of grandfather, Philip, which he sold in 1810 to David Lupton and joined the migration to Greene Co., OH. When Thomas' father, Thomas, died in 1779, he was only 13 and chose Meredith Carlington as his guardian [Frederick Co., VA, Minute Book 82-86, pg. 2]. Later his siblings chose him as their guardian - namely, Tamson, James and Jane.

His brother-in-law, Robert Wilson, willed to Thomas Babb his large sword and his coat [will of 3 Oct. 1791] "in case I lose my life in this conflict." Robert was killed by Indians on 4 Nov. 1791, in OH at the battle sometimes called St. Clair's Defeat. He had been part of a military expedition under General Arthur St. Clair to subdue the Indians in that regions. They were surprised in this camp on the Wabash River by the Indians and suffered heavy losses.
