Louise Platt Gould: Daughter of a naval doctor, grew up in Annapolis, Maryland. While performing in a high school play, she caught the attention of a theater producer from St. John's College. First husband was theatre director Jed Harris, about whom the biography "The Curse of Genius" was written. They had one daughter. She remained married to her second husband, teacher/director Stanley Gould, until his death. They also had one daughter. Once tested for the role of Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind (1939). Educated in New York, Manila and Hong Kong. Alternated with her sister Jean in playing Belinda in "Johnny Belinda" on Broadway in 1941. Her father was a US Navy officer, Lt. Cmdr. Daniel Louis Platt.
