Asa Allen's (Alling) will. Probate issued in Duchess County, September 5, 1786.

In the name of God Amen, I Asa Allen of Charlotte Precinct in Dutchess Co. and Province of New York, being at present-through-God's goodness-of sound understanding and memory, though weak in body, think it my duty to make this last Will and Testament as to such worldly estate as God hath entrusted me with, as followeth:

Imprimis -- I will that all my just debts and funeral expenses be taken care of and duly paid by my executors hereafter named. Item -- I give my dear and loving wife for term of life the use and improvement of one third part of the farm on which I now dwell, and a third part of the house in which I now live and all the household goods forever requiring her to allow those of our children which are yet unmarried to dwell there so long as they shall live single.

Item-- I give to my beloved son Ezra Allen all the farm on which he now liveth, and all the appurtenances thereof.

Item-- I give my son Abraham Allen twenty shillings.

Item-- I give fifty pounds  to my beloved son James Allen one half to be paid at twenty one years of  age and the other half to be paid one yer after.

Item-- I give my daughters Rhoda Allen and Anna Allen each of them ten pounds to be paid them as they come of age or 18 years of age.

Item-- I give my beloved son Asa Allen all the farm of land on which I now dwell and house and barn and all movables, excepting the use of one third and one third of the house given to his mother her life time above mentioned and household goods, he my said son Asa shall enjoy the whole of the house, barn and land after his mother's decease and by him my son Asa I require the payment of all my debts and legacies above mentioned (vis) to Abraham, James, Rhode, and Anna.

Lastly--My will is and I do hereby constitute my loving wife Anna Allen and my son Asa Allen to be my executors of my last will and Testament--In confirmation of all that I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 12th day of March in the year of   our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and seventy six.
