Know all men by these presents, That I Luther Chidsey of North Branford, New Haven County, Connecticut, being of sound disposing mind and memory do make ordain and publish this my last Will and testaments, in manner and form as following, viz. First I give and bequeath to my executer herein after named the sum of two hundred dollars, in trust, to pay over the same to the clerk of the First Congregational Church in North Branford, to be held in trust by same clerk and his successors as such and the interest or income from the same to be fixed annually to the person who, when the same is payable shall act a Treasurer of the American Home Missionary Society, formed in the city of New York in the year Eighteen hundred and twenty- and purposes of said Society and under its direction.
Second I give and bequeath to my three daughters Grace Foot, wife of Noah Foot, Marietta Chidsey and Emma E. Chidsey the sum of seven thousand, five hundred dollars, to be divided and distributed equally between them. Third I give and bequeath to my two sons Leverett Chidsey and Merrick P. Chidsey, two thirds of the residence and remainder of my estate both real and personal to their heirs and assigns forever.
Fourth I give to my beloved wife Eliza P. Chidsey the use and improvement during her life, of the other remaining one third of all my real and personal estate instead of dower, and after her decease give and bequeath the same to my two said sons Leverett and Merrick P. to them and their heirs and assigns forever. Fifth If either of the legatees or devisees mentioned in this Will shall die before receiving the legacy or devise to here made by the provisions of this Will, in such case I give and devise such legacy to the heirs of such legates or devises dying. Sixth I appoint and constitute my son Leverett Chidsey sole executor of this my last Will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 23rd day of February 1872 Luther Chidsey
